I am 81 years old and thanks to all the Schnauzers that have blessed my life, I am in good health and protected and loved by my remaining three. I really don't own my house, they let me live here! We used to live in suburban Chicago with a nice back yard, but upon retirement we headed south to southern Illinois.
I started my schnauzer addiction some 30 years ago and have never looked back. Such smart, loving and kind dogs and can outsmart me at the drop of a hat. Thankfully I found a remarkable couple who in retirement went into schnauzer breeding. We were both interviewed, the house and property examined and then approved. I moved to the country from Chicago and got a good review when the breeders saw 9 acres of trees and hills for them to play in.
Since moving into the clean air my oldest (Samantha) is now 17 and still is the queen over the two remaining boys, (One is a rescue from a home the breeders sold him to. They did regular checking on all their schnauzers and took a grey and white away and brought him directly to me. He is no longer shy, but a happy, chasing rabbits and deer and free to run and bark.
I recently lost my second oldest, Hans, and that was a terrible loss to me and my remaining 3. He died suddenly and had him cremated and scattered his ashes on the grave spot for the other 8 that are buried there. I still have 3 bed partners and that includes the oldest and queen, Samantha, and her siblings, Benedict who is 8 and the rescue, Raylan who is also 8. The oldest and queen and dictator, Samantha, shows few signs of being an older dog. I just hope she has a peaceful life like her younger brother Hans did.
I don't care what folks say about Schnauzers being yappers. They are dogs with deep feelings and have responses for everything including human friends, all dogs (no cats) and especially the Fed Ex person that brings the Chewy dog food and treats. The driver now lets Raylan, (the rescue) into his truck to search for his box of goodies. They cuddle with me at night and like all schnauzers are very nosy. They know the limits of the property and obey them. Yes, they bark at every turn and chase field mice that get in the house. Raylan likes to stomp on them and then walk away for one of us to clean up! (It's always me)
These wonderful no shedding cuddle bums have kept me going. My health and attitude are good and I give them full credit for that! Most people don't understand that these dogs are able to form human like responses. Schnauzers Rule!
