Sisters that needed to stay together

My friend asked me if I would be interested in adopting another Mini Schnauzer. I told her that I already had a brother and sister and thought that was probably enough. She asked me if I would talk with the foster parent as she needed some guidance. I agreed. A few hours later I was sitting at the desk of the foster mom discussing the situation. She asked me to take a look at the only 2 puppies in the litter. I agreed. When I had a few minutes with them I told her that the one named Lilly would be fine as a single dog, but the other one named Piper would not survive very well as an only dog in a home where the parent/s worked all day. Long story short, I got a call the next day to say that the 2 puppies would only be given to me. What a surprise! This was not my plan.

The next day my husband and I drove to see the puppies and bring them the food that we wanted to use. Surprise again - "They are yours and because of your skill and understanding, we are going to send them home with you."

"But what about the home inspection?" I asked. We talked with your friend that we know very well, she said that if we went to your home, we would only be jealous because it was so dog friendly, clean, secure and wonderful.

That is it - we drove home with 2, 10 week old puppies. What a surprise and what a joy. Our other 2 Schnauzers fell in love with the puppies and suddenly we had a family of 6. The next 6 years were filled with love and joy for all 6 of us. Then we lost Bella and a year and a half later, we lost Jasper. Now we are ready to enlarge our family once again. Once you own a Schnauzer, you never really want to own another type of dog. Here is the bottom line: "God gave us dogs to teach us about unconditional love". Amen!
