Pepper

Months after Phoebe, our Schnauzer mix, died I started looking online for another pet. I saw 3 year old Pepper at PAWS New England. I called and said I was interested but could not get up to Plymouth, Mass. for several weeks. They said they would still try to place him and they did. We got a Cavachon pup, a great dog but not a rescue. Driving up to Mass. weeks later we called on a whim to find out how he was doing and was told after being placed he was returned. "He couldn't get along with the people's dog" we were told. I came to not beleive that.
Whenever we boarded him he preferred to hang out with the big dogs, Border and Aussie shepherds, who would follow him around as if waiting for him to tell them what to do next, a little leader.
We got him, brought him home and found he had heartworms. PAWS sent my Vet their credit card # and covered the expensive treatment. I much appreciated that.
11 years later he died from a mast cell growth. Now I am looking for another Schnauzer rescue, puppy, or retired breeder female if possible.
