My Pensive Schnauzer Rykker

Rykker is one of the most caring and thoughtful dogs ever.

I suffer from MS, and my last episode was extreme vertigo. So much so, that I could only sit. In this picture Ryk is sitting with me, with such a longing. He so wanted to go run and play in the lake, but would not leave me alone. For four long months he was no further than a foot away from me at anytime. Even when he went for his toilet breaks he went quickly and came right back.

I like to call him my Doctor Dog. He knows when I am starting a relapse before I even know. He begins to stick like glue to me, and without fail within one to two weeks, I will have started a relapse. During these time, he does not even play with his doggy family members very much, as almost all of his time is devoted to being by my side, whether I am awake of sleeping. I have had him from birth, I have both of his parents and his sister as well.

He loves going for Truck rides and will go out and sit by the truck door and wait, until I have to give in and take him for a drive. He is very protective of his vehicle and will not let anyone he does not know in it. He loves to get in the back seat and stretch out, and then when driving through populated areas get up and watch out the window at goings on of the people in the village.


I did not crop his ears or his tail, as I believe every dog should have ears to perk and a tail to wag. I have also never trimmed Rykker, as I think he looks beautiful in his natural state. He gets lots of brushing which he thoroughly enjoys. My vet also thinks he looks very handsome in his "au naturel" look. He and his family are such a joy to be with.
